Joey Barba: Sea Games 2011 Silver Medalist

Philippines’ top-gun downhiller Joey Barba brought back honor as a silver medalist in the recently concluded South East Asian (SEA) Games held in Indonesia. It was a real close ordeal for Barba, as his competitors were really fast during the seeding run. The race course used were really knarly, slippery, and utmost dangerous, explains barba. But this doesn’t held him back as he gave his best for every worth. The seeding run held a day before the finals revealed the competitors speed and aggressiveness of each competitors.

The MTB Downhill event gave the 1st medal for the Philippines’ contingent in the SEA GAMES, that boost the moral of everyone as it was a very close race against the time of Indonesian rider Pornomo Pornomo. who clocked-in first at 0:02:31.451 while barba checked-in at 0:02:32.443 with just a gap of 0.992 seconds, settling for the silver medal.

This wasn’t the first honor downhiller Joey Barba brought to the country from the Sea Games, he was also the silver medalist in 2005 (Phi), and Gold medalist in 2007 (Thai). He also proved to be the man to watch in asia in every downhill competition. Joey is now taking up B.S. Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) at Colegio de Santa Catalina de Alejandria (COSCA) in Dumaguete City.
